Which agent should I choose to sell my home?

When you make the decision to sell your property it’s crucial you select the right agent to handle this important transaction and you’ll ask yourself; which agent should I choose to sell my home?  But how do you make this important choice? Real Estate like many industries is highly competitive and there are quality professionals who do an incredible job for their fee and those who don’t.

It can be difficult to compare agents who can seem as though they offer the same or a similar service, however there are many factors to consider when selecting the right agent.

Speaking to friends and those in your network who have recently used a real estate agent is a good place to start.  Do your research and review the ratings for agents on-line such as ratemyagent.com.au (Australia’s largest Real Estate Agent rating service). Ask to speak to past clients directly to get a first-hand opinion on what they were like to deal with.

You’ll want to feel comfortable the Agent you’re considering has a proven track record in your suburb, you’ll want to assess the quality of the marketing that they do and specifically how they would recommend promoting your property.

Property styling is becoming more prevalent, does the agent recommend you use a stylist, and do they have in-house expertise to be able to give you the right recommendations on how best to present your property to the market.

When you meet with an agent ask their strategies on buyer attraction, discuss their knowledge of buyer behaviors and most importantly do they share the same core values as a business as your own.
